PalmPay, a leading fintech platform, has announced its collaboration with the Lagos State Government to enhance its food initiative by providing innovative payment solutions, empowering residents and businesses to participate in the Food Discount Market initiative, known as ‘Ounje Eko’.
In response to this collaboration, PalmPay stated that it is
dedicated to equipping individuals and businesses with the necessary tools to
succeed in today’s challenging economy.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State initiated Ounje
Eko, meaning Lagos Food, as a response to the prevalent economic challenges
faced by residents, aiming to offer relief through discounted food items.
The Ounje Eko markets are strategically located in 27
locations in Ikeja, six in Lagos Island, nine in Ikorodu, five in Epe, and 10
in Badagry divisions, with essential food items made available to residents at
a 25 percent discount.
Enakeno Umuteme, the Head of Marketing Communications at
PalmPay, commented on the partnership, stating, “The Ounje Eko initiative is
truly commendable, especially amidst the country’s high inflation rate of 30
percent, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics.”
Umuteme further added, “PalmPay is honored to have
contributed to the Ounje Eko Initiative by collaborating with the Lagos State
Government as an Independent Payment Solution provider, facilitating payment
platforms and supplying POS terminals for seamless transactions.”
He emphasized, “At PalmPay, our dedication lies in assisting
individuals and businesses with the resources they need to thrive. By
participating in this intervention, we believe we have made a significant
positive impact within our community.”
This partnership marks a significant step towards leveraging
digital payment solutions to support essential initiatives aimed at improving
the lives of residents in Lagos State and fostering economic development in the
region.
PalmPay’s collaboration with the Lagos State Government in
the Ounje Eko initiative highlights the importance of fintech solutions in
driving positive change and empowering communities.
