Prospective students seeking admission to the Nigerian Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and other open distance learning institutions are now required to register through the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB).
Furthermore, all candidates are required to furnish their
unique National Identification Number (NIN) during the registration process.
The Board is taking this action to safeguard the integrity
of candidate records and prevent fraudulent activities
In an official declaration, the board affirmed its
unwavering commitment to guaranteeing a streamlined and efficient registration
procedure.
“To ensure the integrity of candidate records and prevent
fraudulent activities, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has
implemented a new requirement. All applicants seeking admission to Nigerian
tertiary institutions must provide their National Identification Number (NIN)
during the registration process. This applies to all programs of study,
regardless of whether the mode of study is regular or non-regular. This measure
is in accordance with JAMB’s enabling act and aims to safeguard the credibility
of the admissions process.”
Furthermore, the advisory emphasizes that all prospective
candidates in non-regular categories, including NOUN, Distance Learning,
Part-time, and Sandwich programs, must generate a profile code prior to
registering with JAMB.
The Board noted that this can be accomplished by sending their National Identification Number (NIN) through their unique phone number to either of the company’s sort codes (55019 or 66019).
Additionally, this directive impacts previous candidates
enrolled in non-standard programs who have yet to integrate their National
Identification Number (NIN) or unique phone number with the Joint Admissions
and Matriculation Board (JAMB) platform.
These individuals are required to establish a profile using
their respective NINs to access any of JAMB’s services.
