Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye Olanrewaju, widely known as Bobrisky, has responded to serious allegations made by social media activist Verydarkman (VDM).

In a leaked voice recording, Verydarkman claimed that Bobrisky bribed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to resolve his money laundering case.

It is already known that the social media personality was sentenced to six months in prison on April 12, 2024. However, VDM asserted that Bobrisky did not actually serve his sentence and instead paid to be released from jail.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, addressed the circulating voice recording in a statement on Tuesday, confirming that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has initiated an immediate investigation into the matter.

In a recent update, Bobrisky took to Instagram to refute all allegations, asserting that he completed his prison term and did not bribe any EFCC officials to dismiss the money laundering charges against him.

He stated, “I have been made aware of a fraudulent voice recording claiming that I paid the EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never imprisoned. This is a blatant lie. I served my full term and have been released. Please disregard any false information.”

The controversy began when Verydarkman accused Bobrisky of failing to repay a N4 million debt owed to a friend.
