The Federal Government has officially designated Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the nation’s Independence Day.

In a statement made on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his congratulations to Nigerians both domestically and internationally on this significant occasion.

According to a statement released by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Friday, Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended the dedication and resilience of Nigerian citizens, emphasizing that their contributions will not go unrecognized.

Echoing the anniversary's theme, the minister encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the efforts of “our heroes past” and draw inspiration for future endeavors, acknowledging that a united Nigeria is essential for realizing the nation of “our dreams.”

In his message for the Independence Day Anniversary, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to remain committed to the ongoing process of nation-building.
