The Nigeria Football Federation has congratulated Super Eagles and Nantes forward, Moses Simon, on achieving his 150th appearance in Ligue 1.

At 29 years old, Simon is among Nigeria’s most experienced players in Ligue 1 and has been honored for reaching this significant career milestone in the French top division over the weekend.

During the match against Angers, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Simon recorded his 150th cap, providing the assist for Johann Lepenant's goal. This assist marked his 29th for the club, making him the leading contributor for Les Canaris in this regard, surpassing the previous record held by Emiliano Sala.

The NFF joined various football stakeholders in celebrating Simon's achievement, posting a message on their official Instagram account that stated, “Congratulations to our very own superstar Moses Simon on reaching 150 games in Ligue 1. Keep soaring, Super Eagle.”

Simon has dedicated his entire Ligue 1 career to La Maison Jaune, initially joining on loan from Levante in Spain in 2019 before making a permanent move to the Atlantic coast. He played a key role in helping Les Canaris secure the Coupe de France during the 2021-22 season. On Tuesday, the official Ligue 1 X (formerly Twitter) account acknowledged Simon’s accomplishment, labeling him as “indispensable.”

Throughout his Ligue 1 tenure, he has scored 27 goals and provided 29 assists for Nantes, who currently sit fifth in the league standings after five matches.

Simon ranks fifth in terms of appearances among Nigerian players in Ligue 1, trailing behind Victor Ikpeba (170), Taye Taiwo (191), Wilson Oruma (196), and John Utaka (239). Presently, he is Nantes’ top scorer in the league this season, with two goals and two assists, and was recognized as their Player of the Month for August. He is contracted with Nantes until 2026.
