Manchester United's Portuguese midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, netted the team's second goal from the penalty spot during the English Premier League match against Sheffield United at Old Trafford in Manchester on April 24, 2024.

Following a red card issued during a 3-0 loss to Tottenham, Fernandes has successfully avoided a three-match suspension. The referee, Chris Kavanagh, had sent him off for a high tackle on James Maddison, but it was evident that Fernandes had slipped prior to the incident. Maddison himself acknowledged that the challenge did not warrant a red card.

United lodged an appeal against the decision, and the English Football Association (FA) has ruled in favor of the claim for wrongful dismissal.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the FA confirmed, “Bruno Fernandes will be available for Manchester United’s next three games following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal.”

The 30-year-old midfielder is now set to participate in upcoming matches against Aston Villa, Brentford, and West Ham, providing a significant boost to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who is under pressure to improve the team's performance.

Currently, the Red Devils sit 13th in the Premier League standings, having secured only two victories in their first six matches.
