Building on the success of “Aníkúlápó: The Rise of the Spectre,” the upcoming season will delve further into the rich tapestry of Nigerian history, culture, and the supernatural. Set against the stunning landscapes of Oyo State and Ghana, the narrative expands beyond the Oyo Empire, introducing new settings and international talent.
The story begins with a dramatic escape from the underworld, marking the start of a dark transformation. A character emerges, endowed with a malevolent ability to siphon the life force from others, creating chaos that disrupts the Oyo Empire. Meanwhile, familiar characters Akin and Arolake confront their own dilemmas as Ogunjimi’s return jeopardizes their relationship, paving the way for an epic confrontation.
This season is set to be filled with tension, power dynamics, and emotional upheaval, as Awarun navigates treacherous business dealings. Returning cast members include Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, and Lateef Adedimeji, alongside exciting newcomers such as Antar Laniyan, Joke Muyiwa, Adebowale Adebayo, and Saidi Balogun.
Kunle Afolayan expressed, “We take pride in telling our stories authentically.
