Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, is poised to release his much-anticipated album on November 22.

This album, which he has been promoting for several months, serves as a tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.

The release date was officially announced on social media last Friday, with Wizkid stating, “Morayo. Pre-save album! Nov 22.”

This announcement follows the recent release of his new single, "Piece of My Heart," featuring American singer-songwriter Brent Faiyaz.

The track is part of the forthcoming album "Morayo," dedicated to his mother.

Earlier this year, Wizkid emphasized that "Morayo" is not an Afrobeats project and advised fans of the genre against downloading it.

He stated, “Album name ‘Morayo’ best I ever made. I am not an Afrobeats artist. Don’t call me that. If you like Afrobeats please don’t download my album, I’m not Afro anything.”

Wizkid was born in Surulere on July 16, 1990, and grew up in a polygamous household with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.

In December, he released his latest musical project, the "Soundman Vol. 2" EP, which features collaborations with prominent artists such as Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile.

His discography includes four additional albums: "Ayo" (2014), "Sound From The Other Side" (2017), "Soundman Vol. 1" (December 2019), "Made In Lagos" (2020), and "More Love, Less Ego" (2022).

Wizkid has garnered numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award in 2021 for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the acclaimed song "Brown Skin Girl."

Recently, "Made In Lagos" was recognized as the most streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music.
