Actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji recently discussed his path to success and his marital life in an interview with Chude Jideonwo.

During the conversation, Lateef reflected on a moment when a mentor in the Yoruba film industry expressed skepticism about his abilities, predicting he would not last more than a year.

In response, Lateef confidently requested two years to demonstrate his capabilities.

He also recounted the heartfelt story of proposing to his wife, Bimpe, over the phone, highlighting her unwavering support despite the challenges posed by online criticism and hurtful remarks, including accusations of infertility.

Lateef conveyed his appreciation for his wife's steadfastness, especially during the difficult period when he was focused on his project, Lisabi. He noted that, despite facing letdowns from those who had promised assistance, his wife's encouragement significantly bolstered his confidence.

“Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become.

“My wife and I have received a lot of trolls. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right.

“I just called her one morning and asked if she would marry me and she said Yes.

“When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realiyzed that everybody that I felt would stand by me was not there; there was nobody,” he said.

Lateef Adedimeji is recognized for his performances in films such as Ayinla (2021), Olokiki Oru: The Midnight Sensation (2019), and That One Time (2022).
