Elon Musk announced that his startup xAI will launch its Grok 3 chatbot on Monday, claiming it to be the "smartest AI on Earth" in a highly competitive landscape.

The main AI product from the company will be showcased with a live demo on Monday night at 8:00 PM Pacific time (0400 GMT), as Musk shared on his social media platform X.

Grok 3 has been trained using synthetic data and can analyze its mistakes to achieve logical consistency.

“Will be honing product with the team all weekend, so offline until then,” Musk, the world’s richest person and a key advisor to former President Donald Trump, mentioned while focusing on reducing government spending.

Last week, Musk indicated that Grok 3 was nearing completion and would be available to the public soon.

xAI is aiming to carve out a niche in a market crowded with competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT as AI continues to integrate into everyday life.

Last month, Chinese startup DeepSeek made waves in the global AI scene by launching an affordable, high-quality chatbot, posing a challenge to the US's goal of leading in AI development.

DeepSeek quickly surpassed ChatGPT in downloads on the Apple App Store.

While Musk has consistently warned about the potential dangers of AI to humanity, he is still aggressively pursuing more investment in the field.

In December, xAI announced it had secured $6 billion in its latest funding round from various investors, including US venture capitalists, chipmakers Nvidia and AMD, and investment funds from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, among others. This followed an initial $6 billion raised in May.

The company has emerged as one of the most valuable startups globally, although it remains significantly smaller than OpenAI.

Musk, who concurrently leads SpaceX and Tesla, founded the AI venture in July 2023, shortly after endorsing an open letter advocating for a halt in the advancement of advanced AI models.

On Friday, the chairman of OpenAI's board announced that they have unanimously declined an offer from Musk to acquire the company for $97.4 billion.
