The Naira closed on a positive note against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Friday, marking a slight appreciation.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Naira strengthened to N1,492.49 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,499.07 recorded on Thursday. This represents a gain of N6.58 per dollar within a day.

However, the story was different in the parallel (black) market, where the Naira continued to lose ground against the dollar.

Abubakar Alhasan, a Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, reported that the Naira depreciated to N1,505 per dollar on Friday, down from N1,500 on Wednesday.

Throughout the week, the Naira experienced mixed performance across foreign exchange markets.

At the official market, the currency appreciated by N8.24 on a week-on-week basis, closing at N1,492.49 per dollar on Friday compared to N1,500.07 on Friday, 21st, 2025.

In contrast, the Naira remained stable in the black market on a week-on-week basis, showing no significant change.
