Nigerian hip-hop artist, Yung6ix, has made a candid public plea for assistance in his journey to quit smoking marijuana. In a recent post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the rapper revealed that he has been a regular smoker for the past 21 years and is now facing physical repercussions that necessitate stopping.

Expressing the difficulty of his situation, Yung6ix stated, "Coming out today to tell everyone I need help. I’ve been smoking for 21 years now and my body is telling me to stop. I’m trying but it’s not easy, I’ve reduced how much I spend buying weed to $600 a month and I need help to turn that to $0. Any help?"

This open admission of his struggle has resonated with fans and fellow artists alike. Notably, his colleague, rapper Phenom, responded to his tweet with an offer of support based on his own experience. Phenom shared that he successfully quit smoking a decade ago with the guidance of a doctor and promptly offered to connect Yung6ix with the same medical professional.

"10 years since I quit smoking. [I] can link you up with the doctor that helped me," Phenom wrote.

Yung6ix expressed surprise and gratitude at Phenom's offer, replying, "Wow no way bro, so you no dey now kana all this while when we dey yarn?" This exchange highlights a moment of connection and potential support within the Nigerian music community.

Yung6ix's public appeal underscores the challenges individuals face when trying to overcome long-term substance use, even with personal resolve. His decision to seek help openly may encourage others in similar situations to reach out.

The supportive response from his colleague, Phenom, demonstrates the positive role that peer support and professional guidance can play in addiction recovery. As Yung6ix embarks on this journey to quit, he has not only brought his personal struggle to light but also potentially opened a dialogue about addiction and recovery within the Nigerian entertainment industry and beyond.
