Kano Pillars have confirmed the appointment of Evans Ogenyi as their new technical adviser, marking a return to a familiar role for the experienced coach. His appointment takes immediate effect.

Ogenyi replaces Usman Abdallah, who stepped down from the position in May citing personal reasons. The vacancy has since been the subject of speculation, with Pillars now opting for a steady hand with knowledge of the club’s dynamics.

This marks a homecoming of sorts for Ogenyi, who played a key role in Kano Pillars’ promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 2023. His previous success with the team appears to have been a decisive factor in his reappointment.

Most recently, Ogenyi served as an assistant coach at Rivers United, another top-tier NPFL club. He departed the role last month after his contract expired. His resume also includes managerial spells with Warri Wolves and Lobi Stars, further underscoring his depth of experience in Nigerian football.

Kano Pillars will be hoping Ogenyi’s return brings stability and renewed momentum as they prepare for the upcoming NPFL season.
