A new wave of Nigerian Afrobeats stars is making their mark on the global stage, following the announcement of the 2026 Grammy Awards nominations, released on Friday evening.

Among the standout names, Davido and Omah Lay earned a spot on the shortlist for their collaboration “With You,” nominated in the Best African Music Performance category — a recognition that continues to solidify Afrobeats’ growing international influence.

The same category also features strong Nigerian representation with “Love” by Burna Boy and “Gimme Dat” by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid, making it one of the most competitive African lineups in recent Grammy history.

Burna Boy, who won his first Grammy Award in 2021 for Twice as Tall, added another major nod this year with a nomination for Best Global Music Album for his latest project, No Sign of Weakness.

The nominations once again highlight the global reach of Nigerian music, as Afrobeats continues to command attention on the world’s biggest stages. The recognition also signals how deeply the genre’s fusion of rhythm, storytelling, and culture has resonated with audiences across continents.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where Nigerian fans will be watching closely to see if the nation’s brightest stars can bring home more golden gramophones.
