Described by the ministry as a “groundbreaking” effort, Inspire Live(s) aims to tackle persistent challenges in the nation’s education system—among them shortages of qualified teachers, uneven learning opportunities, and frequent disruptions to schooling. By streaming real-time, teacher-led classes, the programme seeks to create equitable access to quality education “regardless of location or circumstance,” in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of Education Tunji Alausa confirmed that full implementation is already underway. The rollout is expected to scale progressively to cover all levels from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3. At present, the Inspire platform hosts classes for junior and senior secondary school students, with sessions running Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Classes are taught by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex and follow a structured timetable.
The programme offers a wide range of subjects. For Junior Secondary School learners, subjects include Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Agricultural Science, ICT, French, Basic Technology, Civic Education, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies. Senior Secondary School students have access to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Civic Education, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, and Automobile Mechanics.
To ensure the programme reaches learners nationwide, the ministry has directed all state Commissioners for Education to nominate State Focal Officers who will coordinate Inspire Live(s) activities within their jurisdictions. States are also required to circulate programme details to public and private school principals and ensure designated schools are equipped with basic ICT tools and reliable internet connectivity—key prerequisites for smooth participation.
The ministry clarified that registration for participation will be handled exclusively by school principals through the platform’s support channels and stressed that Inspire Live(s) is open to both public and private schools across Nigeria.
With digital capacity and teacher shortages posing long-standing obstacles to educational equity, the Inspire Live(s) initiative represents an effort to modernise learning delivery and bring structured, quality instruction to classrooms—and homes—throughout the country.
