Nophew Olajide Olabinjo, known professionally as Jahkantfai, emerges from Ajegunle Wilmer in Lagos—an energetic cradle of iconic Nigerian music. His early years were shaped by the neighbourhood’s distinct soundscape, where church choirs, street performances and homegrown talent created a fertile ground for artistic discovery.

A former choir member, dancer and songwriter, Jahkantfai cultivated a style that blends his cultural heritage with contemporary expression. His artistic path has since crossed borders; now based in Wiesbaden, Germany, he balances a multifaceted professional life. Beyond music, he has built a career as a drywall and metal system constructor, Salesforce administrator, AI specialist, business analyst and life coach—an unusual but compelling fusion of technical skill and creative spirit.

His album Phoenix—first written and recorded in the early 2000s and recently revived through a polished remaster—captures the heart of his narrative. The project weaves themes of endurance, faith and personal rebirth, mirroring his own journey of transformation. Like the mythical bird that rises renewed from the flames, the album reflects an artist who continues to evolve, reinvent and rise, regardless of the challenges he encounters.

Jahkantfai’s story is that of a modern creative: grounded in community, shaped by movement, and defined by resilience.
