Tension on Set: Conflicting Accounts Emerge After Alleged Scuffle Between Actors Taye Arimoro and Peggy Ovire
A movie production in Nigeria reportedly turned chaotic after an altercation between Nollywood actors Taye Arimoro and Peggy Ovire escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving both sides trading accusations of assault and obstruction.
According to Arimoro, the dispute began when he attempted to leave the set after completing his contracted hours. He alleged that Peggy Ovire and her team prevented him from leaving, claiming his car was deliberately blocked and that he was physically attacked — sustaining visible injuries to his gums and lips. Arimoro shared parts of the incident during an Instagram Live session, which has since drawn widespread attention online.
Ovire, however, countered the narrative in a statement, insisting that Arimoro was the aggressor. She alleged that the actor became violent after being asked to stay briefly to complete two pending scenes.
“Taye, you beat up two crew members simply because you felt they had no voice – no social media presence, no one to speak for them,” Ovire claimed. “They were only begging you to complete two short scenes so we could wrap up for the night.”
She further alleged that when she tried to engage Arimoro in a calm discussion, he reacted angrily, later punching the production manager multiple times. According to Ovire, the tension deepened when both actors’ drivers got involved, leaving her own driver injured and bleeding from the ear.
Ovire also denied allegations that she or her team blocked Arimoro’s vehicle, asserting instead that the actor drove off abruptly while she was still standing beside the car.
As of press time, neither party has released an official apology or confirmed whether law enforcement was involved. The production company behind the film has yet to issue a statement regarding the on-set altercation.
The incident has reignited discussions about professionalism and conflict management within Nollywood productions, as fans and colleagues call for restraint and proper investigation into the claims from both sides.
