An online video personality, Martins Otse — widely known as VeryDarkMan — has publicly apologised for his role in an in-flight scuffle with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, which resulted in delays on a United Nigeria Airlines flight.

The confrontation occurred on a scheduled trip from Asaba to Lagos, where both men were seen in a physical dispute as fellow passengers intervened to restore calm. The incident drew immediate attention on social media, prompting widespread criticism over the disruption it caused.

Addressing the matter in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, VeryDarkMan expressed regret and accepted responsibility for the disturbance. He noted that the clash was avoidable and acknowledged the inconvenience suffered by passengers.

“I would really like to apologise for what happened yesterday on the United Nigerian Airlines. What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it...

“A lot of people on that flight had important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility from my end, their flight was delayed. Some people might have had medical emergencies, and some had business contracts to sign. I don’t know what that little delay would have cost them, and I really want to apologise,” he added.

He further admitted that, despite online reactions framing the incident as entertainment, he found his own conduct unacceptable.

Reassuring the public, VeryDarkMan pledged that such behaviour would not occur again in any public setting.
