At the event, Executive Chairman Engr. Kenneth Nwabueze described the new service as a strategic tool for organisational growth rather than just another telecom product. He noted that companies across sectors often struggle with escalating communication expenses and the difficulty of coordinating teams. Vitel’s network, he said, was designed to address these issues by merging GSM capabilities with cloud-driven systems to deliver a unified communication experience.
According to Nwabueze, the company’s Closed User Group (CUG) service enables organisations to link up to 50 staff lines within a private network, with free internal calls and SMS, discounted data plans, and PBX-style extensions for departments. The platform also integrates the firm’s SecureMe and Oga-App solutions, offering safety tools, real-time tracking, and operational visibility. International communication at discounted rates, he added, would further help Nigerian businesses reach customers and partners abroad.
Head of Product Marketing, Chiobi Ben Odera, highlighted the broader ecosystem behind the rollout, explaining that the company’s technology supports real-time staff monitoring, SOS alerts, automated payroll, and performance analytics—features intended to help teams collaborate more effectively while reducing costs. He emphasised that Vitel’s Location Awareness Technology brings together SecureMe, Oga-App, and Location-Based Services to give organisations insight into staff movement, asset management, and logistics efficiency.
The launch included a practical demonstration of SecureMe, which allows users to activate safety tracking only when needed, and Oga-App, a tool that uses GPS to confirm staff attendance and generate automated performance reports. Attendees were also shown how these tools integrate seamlessly into the wider communication network, reinforcing Vitel’s pitch of a smarter, safer, and more connected workplace for businesses nationwide.
