The airline says the restored route will improve connectivity ahead of the festive season.

Flights Return After Months of Suspension

Air Peace Limited has announced the resumption of its daily return flights between Abuja and Ibadan, marking a significant step in restoring air connectivity to Oyo State.

In a statement shared on X on Friday, the airline confirmed that operations on the route will recommence on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, following the reopening of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.

Affordable Access to the Capital

According to Air Peace, fares on the Ibadan–Abuja route will start from ₦95,000, offering travellers in Ibadan and surrounding areas a more convenient option for reaching the nation’s capital.

“With fares starting from ₦95,000, this route offers travellers a convenient, reliable, and affordable connection to Abuja, just in time for the festive season and beyond,” the airline said.

The resumption is expected to benefit business travellers, government officials, and residents who previously relied on long road journeys to access Abuja.

NCAA Approval Clears the Way

The announcement followed approval by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the commencement of flight operations at Ibadan Airport. The regulatory green light paved the way for airlines to resume services after months of inactivity.

In February 2025, the NCAA had ordered the closure of the airport to allow for maintenance and upgrade works aimed at improving safety and operational standards.

Boost for Regional Connectivity

The reopening of the Ibadan airport and Air Peace’s decision to immediately resume flights signal renewed confidence in the facility’s readiness. Industry observers say the move could also encourage other airlines to return to the route, further boosting regional air travel.

For passengers in the South-West, the restored connection is expected to reduce travel time, ease congestion on major highways, and support economic activity as the year-end travel rush approaches.
