The homecoming follows months spent abroad, during which Asake toured internationally and worked on new music. His return to Nigeria comes at a peak moment in the festive calendar, with Flytime Fest once again anchoring December entertainment in Lagos. Shortly after his arrival, short videos circulated across social media platforms, sparking excitement among fans eager to see him perform on home soil.
Adding to the buzz, Olamide—Asake’s former record label boss and longtime collaborator—shared posts welcoming the singer back, reinforcing the sense of anticipation surrounding the Christmas Eve show. Asake had only recently performed at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium before flying into Nigeria for his December run of concerts.
Flytime Fest 2025 runs from December 22 to 25 and features a lineup that reflects the breadth of contemporary Nigerian music. Flavour opens the festival on December 22, followed by Olamide on December 23. Asake takes center stage on Christmas Eve, while Davido is scheduled to close the celebrations on Christmas Day.
Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged, Flytime Fest’s flagship concert, has remained a cornerstone of Nigeria’s live music scene for more than two decades. Over the years, it has helped launch major careers and has consistently drawn Afrobeats fans from across Nigeria and the diaspora to Lagos each December. The festival has grown into a cultural moment, linking African music with global audiences and turning December in Lagos into a period many fans plan their year around.
Asake’s Christmas Eve appearance is widely expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s edition. Over the past three years, he has established himself as one of Afrobeats’ most dependable live performers, earning a reputation for high-energy sets, tight setlists, and strong crowd control.
Davido’s closing performance on December 25 is set to round off the anniversary celebrations following a busy year that included the Nigerian leg of his 5ive tour. Flavour’s opening night also marks a milestone, as it will be his first-ever headline appearance at Flytime Fest, with expectations of a full live-band performance shaped by his highlife roots and global touring experience.
Olamide’s return to the Flytime stage further strengthens the lineup. The YBNL founder remains one of the most influential figures in Nigerian rap, known for consistently shaping street music into mainstream culture through years of releases and collaborations.
Last year’s Flytime Fest featured one of its most diverse lineups to date, including Gunna’s first-ever headline performance in Africa, setting a high bar for the 2025 edition.
