Speaking on popular Twitch streamer Carter Efe’s live show on Wednesday, Davido drew parallels between his relationship with Israel DMW and the camaraderie shared by Carter Efe and his co-streamer, Kolu. He praised Carter Efe for maintaining his friendship with Kolu, noting that such partnerships often become fan favorites.
“I’ve been seeing the relationship between you and Kolu. It’s just as how people laugh at me and Israel,” Davido said. “At the end of the day, that’s one of my best friends, and that’s someone I can cry to. And it’s just life, you don’t know the amount of joy that you guys put on people’s faces, people going through a lot.”
The livestream itself was historic. Carter Efe, also known as Oderhohwo Efe, became Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer following the session, which featured Davido as a special guest. The event attracted 83,000 viewers, setting the record for the Most Watched Twitch Livestream in Africa, and made Carter Efe the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on the platform, breaking the previous record held by comedian and content creator Shank Comics.
The interaction between Davido and Carter Efe underscores the growing influence of live streaming in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, blending music, digital content, and fan engagement in innovative ways.
