Confirmation of the development came from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which disclosed that the players have now received certificates for the plots of land and housing units approved by President Bola Tinubu. The documents were officially handed over to the team at their camp in Fez, Morocco, on Monday.
The gesture follows Nigeria’s impressive outing at the continental tournament, which was hosted by Côte d’Ivoire and concluded in 2024. The Super Eagles finished as runners-up after a closely contested 2–1 defeat to the host nation in the final.
After the tournament, President Tinubu received the players and officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he praised their performance and resilience throughout the competition. As part of the reception, the president conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) on each member of the squad.
In addition to the national honours, President Tinubu announced the allocation of a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory and a housing unit to every player as a reward for their contribution to national pride and unity during the tournament.
The fulfillment of the pledge has been welcomed as a follow-through on government commitments to athletes, reinforcing assurances of support and recognition for sporting excellence at the national level.
