In a major step forward for youth football development in Africa, TECNO, the Official Global Partner of the Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, today unveiled its flagship football program’s next evolution: the TECNO x CAF “Future Star of Africa” initiative. The program aims to identify and support promising young players aged 12-15, offering sustained development opportunities through age 18.

The launch reflects a deepening partnership between TECNO and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), moving beyond infrastructure investment to a holistic approach that combines pitch renovations with structured talent development.

The event brought together CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba, football legends Yaya Touré and Ahmed Hassan, Nigerian musician Joeboy—TECNO Power Moment Featured Artist—and key community stakeholders.

The initiative builds on TECNO’s existing DreamOnTheField program, which began as an infrastructure-focused project. The program has already renovated eight football pitches across Africa, with seven more underway, and TECNO has pledged to renovate 100 pitches continent-wide over the coming years. These pitches serve as hubs for youth engagement and football training, forming the foundation of a broader talent development ecosystem.

Hassan Elkamah, CAF’s Commercial Director, highlighted the strategic vision behind the initiative. “Our partnership with TECNO goes far beyond renovation. From revitalizing pitches to launching the Future Star of Africa initiative, we are creating pathways for the next generation,” he said.

Jack Guo, General Manager of TECNO, emphasized the company’s commitment to equitable opportunities for young athletes. “Talent is universal, but opportunity is not. Through DreamOnTheField, we’ve built the stages. Through Future Star of Africa, we’re ensuring the performers have everything they need to shine,” Guo said.

The program’s framework combines infrastructure, talent identification, and long-term support. CAF will appoint lead technical scouts and senior youth development experts to oversee fair and professional talent selection in each country, complemented by local juries including national football association youth coaches, sports academics, and TECNO representatives.

Véron Mosengo-Omba described the broader significance of the program: “Football is Africa’s heartbeat. It unites us, inspires us, and transforms lives. With TECNO, we are not only improving facilities but investing in talent—the young boys and girls who will carry Africa’s football legacy forward.”

The evaluation process for the Future Star of Africa initiative will assess both technical skills and character traits, including resilience, concentration, leadership, and game intelligence. While selection occurs within national boundaries, the program is designed to contribute to a continental vision of nurturing Africa’s future football stars.

By pairing CAF’s technical expertise with TECNO’s investment in social impact and technology, the partnership exemplifies how corporate social responsibility can drive long-term change. Beyond brand visibility, the collaboration is creating infrastructure, fostering talent, and strengthening communities across the continent.
