The mother of 12-year-old Anu, the child at the centre of the ongoing paternity controversy involving Afrobeats star Davido, has accused the Adeleke family of intimidation, manipulation, and abuse of power. In a strongly worded statement released late Wednesday, she also denied claims that additional DNA tests were conducted in 2020.
The statement comes less than 24 hours after Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, Davido’s father, publicly spoke about the controversy and detailed the family’s pursuit of multiple DNA tests to establish whether Anuoluwapo is biologically related to the singer.
Sister’s Alleged Contact with Dr. Adeleke
In her statement, Anu’s mother alleged that her own sister, Titilayo Labinjoh, has been in contact with Dr. Adedeji Adeleke since the COVID-19 pandemic—news she said shocked her family.
She questioned the nature of their communication, asking:
“To my shock, my own sister Titi Labinjoh reportedly has been talking to Dr. Deji Adeleke since the pandemic. About what?”
She further revealed that Titilayo recently called their mother from Abuja, expressing fear over renewed media attention surrounding Anu and concerns about comments from colleagues at her workplace.
She said her mother advised Titilayo to ignore the public scrutiny, but questioned what about Anu, who she described as bearing the brunt of the controversy.
Allegations of Money and Betrayal
The mother also expressed devastation over claims that her sister may have received money from the Adeleke family. She cited Matthew 10:36, describing the situation as betrayal within her own household.
She strongly denied any collaboration with controversial blogger Kemi Olunloyo, who has been vocal in the case.
Clarifying Her Relationship with Kemi Olunloyo
Anu’s mother explained that Olunloyo opened a social media page in 2019, using photos she sourced online and some she posted herself. She stated that she was not active on social media and did not post for four years, resuming only in 2023 during Anu’s 10th birthday photoshoot.
She added that she no longer lives in Ibadan and that Anu currently resides with her grandmother.
She said:
“I’m a trader by profession. I buy my goods from border countries… There was no time Titi told Dr. Kemi to stop posting about Anu. They don’t have each other’s contact and do not talk.”
She also noted that her mother independently posts some of Anu’s videos, and that the family has not been in contact with Olunloyo despite her ongoing commentary.
Direct Message to Dr. Adeleke
In a direct address to Dr. Adeleke, she said:
“Sir, as the patriarch of the family, you should not be talking on David’s behalf. I’m not Sophia negotiating child support. Let David address me.”
She accused the Adeleke family of using their influence and wealth to monitor the family, claiming:
“Your power and money are being abused here. David is obviously a boy and not a man.”
She also issued a stark warning:
“If anything happens to me, my daughter, or my mom, the police should hold you responsible.”
Denies Additional DNA Tests and B-Red Connection
Addressing claims made by Dr. Adeleke that additional DNA tests were conducted in 2020, she said:
“Anu and I never met with you in 2020 for four additional DNA tests.”
She also dismissed any suggestion that Anu has a connection to Davido’s cousin, B-Red, stating that she has not seen him since February 2013, and that Anu has never met him.
She alleged that suspicion involving B-Red originated from questions posed by Kemi Olunloyo during a detailed interview that is now circulating online.
Background
The statement adds a fresh layer to a controversy that has captured public attention, following Dr. Adeleke’s earlier account of how the family first became aware of Anu and the extensive DNA testing process they pursued.
As the dispute continues to unfold, public focus remains on whether the parties will reach a resolution and whether additional evidence will be presented to clarify the paternity claims.
