The ‘Zazu’ crooner regained his freedom on Monday, January 19, following a week in detention after being arrested over allegations of assault and theft.
Portable was accused of assaulting his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, along with her siblings, and allegedly stealing a car. The singer, however, has denied the claims. In a video circulating online, he insisted that “they lied against me.”
Allegations Stem from New Year’s Eve Dispute
The case traces back to New Year’s Eve, when a heated confrontation between Portable and Ashabi went viral on social media. Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings accused the singer of assault and theft, prompting his arrest and a nine-count charge.
Portable was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, and remanded in custody pending a fresh bail hearing.
Bail Granted After Court Hearing
The presiding judge adjourned the hearing to Monday, January 19, 2026, during which Portable met his bail conditions and was subsequently released.
The case continues to draw attention as Nigerians await further developments in the ongoing legal drama surrounding the controversial singer.
