The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has reassured passengers of a smooth travel experience at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, despite ongoing rehabilitation works at the airport.
Mrs. Kuku gave the assurance during an inspection of the new temporary departure terminal, which is being prepared ahead of the planned closure of Terminal One.
She disclosed that the 8,000-square-metre temporary departure terminal is over 90 per cent complete and is expected to begin operations soon.
The facility is set to initially serve five to six airlines, with the capacity to handle up to 1,500 passengers during peak periods, offering full check-in, security screening and boarding services.
Mrs. Kuku emphasized that the phased rehabilitation and expansion project is designed to enhance safety, efficiency and passenger comfort, while also strengthening Nigeria’s aviation sector and international profile.
The temporary terminal is part of FAAN’s broader plan to modernise MMIA and ensure uninterrupted operations during the renovation of Terminal One.
