A Long-Awaited Musical Return
Scott revealed on Friday that her forthcoming album, To Whom This May Concern, will be released on February 13. The project will be her first full-length body of work since Woman in 2015, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Sharing the news with fans on Instagram on January 2, Scott expressed gratitude for their patience and continued support.
“THIS MAY CONCERN drops Feb. 13th,” she wrote. “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and THANK YOU for your patience and your listening ears.”
Fans are already able to pre-save and pre-order the album across digital platforms.
Building on a Defining Legacy
Jill Scott has long been regarded as one of the most influential voices in modern neo-soul. She burst onto the scene in 2000 with her debut album, Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1, which went platinum and established her as a leading figure in the genre.
She followed that success with a run of critically acclaimed projects, including Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 (2004), The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 (2007), The Light of the Sun (2011), and Woman (2015). Over the course of her career, Scott has earned three Grammy Awards and a reputation for deeply personal songwriting and powerful live performances.
Celebrating 25 Years of “Who Is Jill Scott?”
In 2025, Scott marked the 25th anniversary of her debut album with a special Jill Scott & Friends performance at the Essence Festival in July. The celebration served as both a nod to her enduring impact and a reminder of her lasting connection with fans.
That milestone performance further fueled speculation that new music might be on the horizon—speculation that has now been confirmed.
Balancing Music and a Flourishing Acting Career
While Scott has been largely absent from the music scene in recent years, she has remained active as an actress. She made her film debut in 2007 with Hounddog and Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?, and has since appeared in projects such as The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, Get on Up, and The CW’s DC series Black Lightning.
More recently, Scott made a guest appearance on the hit comedy Abbott Elementary. She is also set to return to the screen in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?, a Netflix project that began production in October 2025.
A New Chapter Begins
With To Whom This May Concern, Jill Scott is preparing to reassert her voice in the music world while continuing to expand her presence on screen. For longtime fans and newer listeners alike, the album represents not just a comeback, but the next chapter in a career defined by artistry, authenticity, and longevity.
