Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has raised concerns over how Lagos was depicted during American streamer IShowSpeed’s recent stop in Nigeria as part of his African tour. The criticism comes after the streamer’s visit to Lagos last week, which marked the Nigerian leg of his “Speed Does Africa” project.
The 28-day livestream tour, which began on December 29, 2025, aims to showcase the diversity of African cultures, landscapes, and people to a global audience. Nigeria was the 15th stop on the continent-wide journey, drawing millions of viewers across the world.
Following the tour’s progress, Kunle Remi took to his Instagram story to express disappointment with the portrayal of Lagos. The actor argued that the city was poorly represented, lacking the depth and authenticity of Nigeria’s rich cultural identity.
Remi described Nigeria as the “worst” destination on his personal list, suggesting that the content broadcast during the visit reduced the country’s identity to nightlife and superficial attractions.
“After watching IShowSpeed’s journey so far, Nigeria is the worst on my own list. We just really stripped Lagos naked. No be say anything dey under the clothes before sha,” he wrote.
He continued, “Seems like we have lost the essence of culture, our truth. All we have is fake drinks, club and beggy beggy skills.”
The comments have sparked conversation among Nigerians, who are divided over whether the streamer's portrayal accurately reflects the realities of Lagos or if it missed the broader cultural narrative the tour set out to highlight.
