The pop icon’s upcoming project—informally dubbed Confessions 2 by fans—does not yet have an official title or release date, but Madonna has confirmed it is in development and scheduled to arrive in 2026. The album will mark her first full-length studio release since Madame X in 2019 and comes as Confessions on a Dance Floor recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
While her new album remains on the horizon, Madonna has already made a notable chart appearance with a standalone release. Her latest song, “La Bambola (for Dolce & Gabbana – The One),” debuts at No. 2 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, earning her first-ever entry on the ranking.
The chart, which tracks the best-selling international songs in the United States, is typically dominated by K-pop and Afrobeats acts. Madonna’s strong debut gives her another top 10 digital seller and places her just one spot shy of a chart-topping debut.
Blocking Madonna from the No. 1 position is South African Grammy winner Tyla, whose single “Chanel” returns to the top of the chart after rising from No. 2. The track marks Tyla’s second career No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, following the breakout success of “Water,” which led the list for 18 weeks in 2023 and earned her the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in 2024.
“La Bambola” is the only new entry on the 10-position chart this week, with returning tracks by Kenshi Yonezu and Stray Kids rounding out the lower end of the ranking.
The song was recorded as part of Dolce & Gabbana’s promotional campaign for its fragrance The One and represents Madonna’s first new musical release of 2026, following a year largely focused on retrospective projects. “La Bambola” is a cover of the 1968 Italian hit originally recorded by Patty Pravo, which topped charts in Italy and found success across Europe.
Madonna’s renewed momentum also extends to albums. The Immaculate Collection, her classic 1990 greatest hits compilation, re-enters the top 10 on Billboard’s Top Dance Albums chart, rising from No. 12 to No. 10. The set recently completed a full year on the ranking, making it one of only two Madonna projects to achieve that milestone, alongside Confessions on a Dance Floor.
As fans await her long-promised return to the dancefloor, Madonna’s latest chart moves underline her enduring global appeal—and suggest that her next era is already beginning to take shape.
