The businessman announced the forthcoming honours via his official social media platforms, describing them as a deeply meaningful recognition from both his ancestral roots and a neighbouring kingdom.
First Honour Comes from Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri
The first ceremony has already taken place at his compound, where the Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri Kingdom conferred on him the title “Ife Igbo ji ka Mba na Enugwu-Ukwu n’Umunri.” The title, rich in cultural symbolism, reflects recognition of his influence, success, and contributions to the Igbo community and beyond.
The ceremony marked the opening of what promises to be a celebratory period for the billionaire, blending tradition, pageantry, and community pride.
Oba Kingdom to Bestow Royal Title
Obi Cubana also revealed that his hometown, the Oba Kingdom, will honour him with a second chieftaincy title on January 9, 2026. The title, “Okpataozueora 1 n’Oba,” is regarded as a royal distinction reserved for individuals who have brought honour and development to their community.
Sharing his excitement, Iyiegbu wrote, “The revered Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri Kingdom will be conferring a chieftaincy title on me on 3rd January 2026. And my town, the Great Oba Kingdom, will also confer a chieftaincy title on me on 9th January 2026.”
Lavish Preparations and Cultural Pageantry
Preparations for the ceremonies are already in full swing. The entrepreneur has begun hosting guests at his compound, setting the tone for what is expected to be a lavish celebration steeped in tradition.
Obi Cubana disclosed that his close friend, popularly known as Work and Chop—whom he described as one of the biggest importers and sellers of authentic traditional regalia—alongside the entertainer Akams Buafam, delivered an assortment of traditional outfits and accessories to ensure he embodies the full regal image befitting the titles.
“When honour is coming, you prepare properly,” the businessman remarked, hinting at the grandeur and cultural elegance expected during the ceremonies.
Gathering of Royals, Elites and Well-Wishers
The twin events are expected to draw an impressive mix of traditional rulers, business leaders, entertainers, friends and family members from across the country. As a well-known philanthropist and cultural ambassador, Obi Cubana has also extended an open invitation to well-wishers to join him in celebrating what many consider a rare double honour.
With both ceremonies symbolising recognition of success, service and cultural pride, the chieftaincy conferments are set to further cement Obi Cubana’s standing as a prominent figure in business, philanthropy and Igbo traditional society.
