U.S.-based artificial intelligence startup Anthropic said its revenue run-rate in India has doubled in the past four months, highlighting surging demand for its Claude coding tools in one of the world’s fastest-growing AI markets.

Chief executive Dario Amodei made the remarks on Monday at the company’s Builder Summit in Bengaluru, where Anthropic also formally opened its India office. The company, backed by Amazon and Alphabet, expanded into India in October 2025 and now describes the country as its largest market after the United States for its Claude AI model.

“Anthropic’s business run-rate revenue within India has doubled over the last four months, and Claude Code may have even grown faster,” Amodei said, without disclosing financial details.

Funding Surge and Enterprise Focus

Anthropic last week raised $30 billion in fresh funding, valuing the company at $380 billion, underscoring investor confidence in the generative AI sector despite mounting competition.

The company has focused heavily on enterprise AI solutions. Its developer-oriented tool, Claude Code, gained traction after becoming generally available last May. More recently, Anthropic introduced Claude Cowork, an AI agent designed to execute computer-based tasks for white-collar professionals.

A January plug-in for Claude Cowork that automates certain workflows sparked a global selloff in software stocks, amid fears that generative AI could disrupt traditional IT services providers. In India — home to a $283 billion IT services industry — software exporter stocks have shed more than $47 billion in market value so far this month.

Amodei noted that India stands out for the “technical intensity” of Claude’s usage.

“Claude has always skewed a little bit more towards productivity and professional workloads, and that’s even more so here in India,” he said.

Expanding Partnerships in India

Anthropic also announced partnerships with major Indian companies. Air India is using Claude Code to accelerate custom software development and integrate agentic AI tools into its operations. IT services firm Cognizant is deploying Claude to modernize legacy technology systems.

The startup revealed additional tie-ups with Indian firms across legal, education, healthcare and agriculture sectors, reflecting its broader push into enterprise and industry-specific AI solutions.

The announcements come ahead of Amodei’s appearance at the India AI Impact Summit later this week, as Anthropic seeks to cement its position in a market increasingly central to the global AI race.
