Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd has appointed Charles Boakye Nimako as its new Board Chair, effective January 1, 2026, succeeding Freda Yahan Duplan after she completed the maximum six-year tenure in the role.

Duplan, who led the bank through a period of resilience, growth and innovation, will remain on the board as an Independent Non-Executive Director to continue contributing her experience to the institution.

Nimako, who has served on Zenith Bank Ghana’s board since 2023 as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Risk and Cyber Security Committee, brings a broad range of expertise in corporate governance, financial services and strategic leadership to his new role.

Profile of the New Board Chair

Charles Nimako currently serves as Director of Africa Initiatives at Safe Water Network, a U.S.-based non-governmental organisation that promotes market-driven community water solutions. He established the organisation’s Ghana office in 2010 after holding several senior leadership roles within PepsiCo’s franchise operations across Ghana and other African markets.

His career includes serving as Chief Executive Officer of Beverage Investments Ghana Limited and SBC Beverages Ghana Limited, both PepsiCo franchise holders. He also held key positions such as Director of Sales and Marketing for Ghana, Franchise Operations Manager for Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia, and Consultant and Project Director for AngoAlissar LDA, a PepsiCo franchise in Luanda, Angola.

Nimako’s global experience spans management consulting and professional accounting, having worked as a Management Consultant with McKinsey & Company in Johannesburg and London, a Staff Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in Los Angeles, and Audit Manager at Great Western Financial Corporation in Beverly Hills, California.

He currently chairs the board of Unilever Ghana PLC, a position he assumed in November 2025, and also serves on the boards of Beverage Investments Ltd (Pepsi-Cola) and Beverly Ranch Ghana Limited. Nimako is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and holds an MBA in Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business, USA.
