The fresh track sees the Overloading crooner deliver an engaging Afrobeats tune centred on protecting his hustle, enjoying the rewards of hard work, and keeping negative influences away from his progress and positive energy.
Blending both Pidgin and English, Baami carries a lively rhythm while reflecting the singer’s determination to stay focused on his journey and guard the success he has worked to build.
A Journey Through the Music Industry
Crayon, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, was signed to Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint of Mavin Records, in 2019. Shortly after joining the label, he released his debut EP Cray Cray on July 12, 2019, marking his official entry into the Nigerian music scene.
He continued to build momentum in 2021 with the single Jackpot, featuring Bella Shmurda. The track appeared on his second EP Twelve A.M., which was released on March 26, 2021.
Chart Success and Rising Popularity
Crayon gained further recognition with the release of Ijo (Laba Laba) on July 6, 2022. The track became a major hit, climbing to number five on the TurnTable Top 100 chart.
Over time, the singer has steadily built a catalogue of popular songs, including Avalay, Overloading, and Ijo (Laba Laba), helping him gain increasing recognition within Nigeria’s Afropop scene.
From Struggles to Triumph
Crayon’s debut album Trench to Triumph offers a more personal perspective on his life story, exploring the difficult circumstances surrounding his upbringing and the challenges he faced while pursuing his dreams.
The singer has also previously spoken openly about battling drug addiction and how he received support during that period from producer Baby Fresh.
As he continues to release new music and grow his fan base, Crayon is gradually establishing himself as one of the emerging voices shaping Nigeria’s contemporary Afropop landscape.
