Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has opened up about his growing hesitation toward marriage, saying the realities of modern relationships and the pressures surrounding weddings have made him increasingly cautious about settling down.

Speaking during a podcast interview with media personality Rufai Oseni, the rapper admitted that watching many marriages collapse shortly after lavish ceremonies has affected his perspective on commitment.

According to him, the emotional drama and financial strain attached to weddings are among the reasons he is in no hurry to walk down the aisle.

“These days I get scared of this marriage thing more and more everyday because I see people get married and in less than a year they want out.”

Ice Prince also pointed to the financial burden many people place on themselves in pursuit of elaborate weddings, revealing that friends often approach him for financial assistance to fund their ceremonies.

“I see the drama people go through to get married, the stress about borrowing money. My friends are constantly reaching out to me to borrow money to get married and I don’t want to be that person.”

Looking at marriage later in life

While he is not ruling marriage out completely, the rapper said he may only begin to seriously consider it when he is older — possibly around the age of 40.

He referenced fellow rapper M.I Abaga as an example of someone who married later in life.

“I’m hoping that maybe when I am 40. Some of my mentors got married that age – somebody like M.I Abaga got married at that age. Maybe when I’m that age I’ll probably be thinking about that. For now I don’t intend to.”

Beyond music: school and farming ambitions

Ice Prince also revealed that he envisions a very different lifestyle for himself in the future, one that may move away from the fast-paced music industry altogether.

According to the rapper, he hopes to return to school and eventually run a farm as part of his long-term personal goals.

“Also I have other goals when I’m 40. I intend to go to school. I really want to go to school so bad and I’d like to run a farm when I’m that age.”

He added that he does not see himself actively releasing albums at that stage of life, suggesting he plans to transition into a quieter and more reflective phase beyond entertainment.

“I don’t intend to be dropping albums when I’m 40,” he added.
