Ghanaian singer Captan has made striking claims about past interactions involving his former record label boss and two major African music stars, alleging that Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy once received help from Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale during a difficult encounter with law enforcement in Ghana.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Captan recounted what he described as a series of personal experiences involving Burna Boy while he was still closely linked to Shatta Wale’s camp.

He claimed that Burna Boy was once arrested in Ghana over alleged marijuana use and that Shatta Wale personally intervened to secure his release through members of his team.

“I once bailed Burna Boy out of prison in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed. Shatta Wale sent me and some guys to go and free him from police custody.”

Captan further alleged that beyond the reported arrest incident, Burna Boy was at another point sheltered by Shatta Wale’s circle when he was allegedly facing threats from unknown individuals.

“There was a time we also accommodated him when some people were after his life. We helped him settle the case.”

Strained relationships and shifting alliances

The singer also suggested that his current relationship with Burna Boy is no longer cordial, linking the fallout to tensions that developed after disagreements involving Shatta Wale and Burna Boy.

According to Captan, the breakdown in ties has created distance between him and the Nigerian superstar, despite their earlier interactions.

However, he noted that reconciliation is still possible, insisting that both he and Shatta Wale would be open to mending ties if Burna Boy takes the initiative.

The claims add another layer to the complex and often public relationships between some of West Africa’s most prominent music figures, whose collaborations and rivalries have frequently drawn attention across the entertainment industry.

For now, neither Burna Boy nor Shatta Wale has publicly responded to Captan’s latest remarks.
