Authorities say the incident unfolded at a hotel where the couple had been staying with their three young children, aged six months, two, and four, before allegedly leaving them unattended while they went out for the evening.
Children Found Alone in Distressed Conditions
According to reporting cited by Mail Online, the pair are accused of leaving the children alone in the hotel room as they went out partying. When investigators arrived, they reportedly found the room in a disordered state, with the eldest child—only four years old—left to care for the younger siblings.
Sources close to the investigation described the situation in stark terms, calling the conditions in which the children were discovered “worrying.”
Baby Tests Positive for Cocaine
Medical concerns escalated after the six-month-old infant tested positive for cocaine, prompting immediate intervention by local authorities. The finding intensified scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding the children’s supervision and welfare during the stay.
All three children have since been placed under temporary protection by the regional child welfare authority, the Junta de Andalucía, which moved them into state care.
The minors were subsequently transferred to the Materno Infantil Hospital Málaga for medical evaluation and monitoring.
Police Investigation Ongoing
It remains unclear whether police waited for the parents to return to the hotel or located them while they were still outside at the time of the arrest. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the charges or the condition of the couple at the time of detention.
The investigation is ongoing as officials work to establish how the infant was exposed to cocaine and the broader circumstances that led to the children being left unsupervised.
