Technology giant LG Electronics Nigeria has unveiled Make Life Good, a new reality television series developed in partnership with MultiChoice that seeks to spotlight the transformative power of gratitude, community service, and technology-driven social impact across Africa.

Premiering on Africa Magic Family on June 13, the show departs from conventional product-focused advertising by placing human stories at the centre of the narrative. Through emotional acts of appreciation and large-scale community interventions, Make Life Good highlights individuals and organisations making meaningful differences in the lives of vulnerable people.

Hosted by renowned television personality Jessica Dlamini, the series draws inspiration from the values of gratitude and the African spirit of Ọmọlúàbí, which emphasises integrity, respect, and service to others. Over the course of the programme, six accomplished Africans partner with LG to honour organisations and community leaders whose work has positively impacted disadvantaged communities.

The featured achievers include celebrated mountaineer Saray Khumalo, former football star William Okpara, entrepreneur and author Thandi Mavata, data and analytics executive Esther Munyi, Pan-African public relations leader Perpetual Kendi, and award-winning filmmaker Adze Ugah.

Each episode follows one achiever as they secretly coordinate an ambitious 24-hour makeover project for a selected organisation. The transformations are designed to address practical challenges faced by volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries, enabling the organisations to operate more efficiently and extend their reach to those in need.

Beyond entertainment, the initiative underscores LG’s commitment to community development across the continent. Through simultaneous renovation projects and the deployment of advanced technology solutions, the company aims to demonstrate how innovation can help solve real-life problems while improving living standards.

The makeover projects feature some of LG’s latest premium technologies. Community kitchens and food preparation centres, including facilities such as LIV Lanseria and Botshabelo Babies Home, are equipped with high-capacity refrigerators and dishwashers to support large-scale feeding programmes. Youth development centres and skills acquisition hubs receive advanced smart televisions and immersive sound systems to enhance learning, training, and recreational activities. Sporting programmes also benefit from specialised laundry equipment designed to maintain sports kits and uniforms for young athletes.

Speaking on the vision behind the project, CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa Region, Phil Jung, said the initiative reflects the company's long-standing commitment to using technology to improve lives.

“At LG, our ‘Life’s Good’ philosophy is built on the belief that technology should serve humanity, making our daily lives more convenient, connected, and meaningful,” said Phil Jung. “With ‘Make Life Good’ series, we wanted to move beyond product specifications and celebrate the authentic, emotional human stories of our region.”

For LG Electronics West Africa, the programme represents an opportunity to showcase the human impact of innovation while recognising unsung heroes working tirelessly within their communities.

“The ‘Life’s Good’ philosophy is rooted in the belief that technology should serve people, making daily environments more supportive, efficient, and connected,” said Hyoung Sub Ji, Managing Director, LG Electronics West Africa. “Collaborating with Africa Magic and these incredible achievers allows us to move beyond product specifications. We are celebrating the authentic stories of Nigerians who uplift their communities, while showing how our smart innovations can practically assist them in doing the hard work of hope every single day.”

According to the organisers, the interventions provide participating organisations with renewed capacity to continue their work, helping them serve larger numbers of people while restoring dignity and improving operational efficiency. By upgrading facilities that often struggle with limited resources, the programme aims to create sustainable benefits that extend well beyond the television screen.

MultiChoice says the project reflects a growing appetite for content that combines entertainment with social responsibility.

“It’s reality TV with purpose. We see it as a celebration of compassion and the unique Mzansi belief that when one rises, they should thrive to lift others as well,” said Mbali Ntuli, GE & Head of Unscripted Content at MultiChoice. “We are honoured to be at the centre of a project that is a reminder that even a small act of kindness can transform an entire community.”

As audiences tune in, Make Life Good promises more than dramatic makeovers and emotional reveals. The series serves as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with gratitude, collective action, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of others.

The programme airs on Africa Magic Family (DStv Channel 154) from June 13 at 5:30 p.m., with repeat broadcasts scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. Viewers can expect inspiring stories of resilience, generosity, and the remarkable impact communities can achieve when technology and compassion come together.
