    Nigeria Records 438 New COVID-19 Infections, Total Cases Nears 40,000

    Nigeria, on Saturday recorded 438 new cases of coronavirus infections in 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
    With the latest update the total tally of infected people in the country rose to 39,977. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) revealed this via its official Twitter handle.

    NCDC also announced the discharge of 389 patients from isolation centers across the country with 11 new deaths reported.

    Data obtained from the NCDC’s website shows that Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with 123 infections, while Kaduna, Rivers and Edo reported 50, 40,and 37 cases respectively.

    25 cases of the virus were reported in Adamawa, 
    20 were found in Oyo, 16 cases in Nasarawa, 15 cases each in Osun and Enugu states, 14 cases in FCT, 13 cases each in Ekiti and Ondo. 

    Other states with new cases includes: Ebonyi-11, Katsina-10, Abia-9, Delta-8, Kwara-4, Ogun-3, Cross River-3, Kano-3, Bauchi-3, Yobe-2, Sokoto-1 and Niger-1

    Nigeria has so far tested 259,516 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    On the 25th of July 2020, 438 new confirmed cases and 11 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 39977 cases have been confirmed, 16948 cases have been discharged and 856 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
