The daily COVID-19 infection rate in Nigeria has dropped below 100 mark after recording 186 the previous day.

Nigeria reported 98 new COVID-19 cases and no coronavirus related death in the last 24 hours.

After fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19, health officials also announced the discharged of 8 new patients.

Data from the health officials further showed that the number of active cases moved up to 1,987, increased by 90 from the previous day.

The newly recorded infections raised the country’s tally of confirmed COVID-19  cases to 168,540, the death toll from the virus reached 2,122 and the number of successfully recovered patients to  164,431. Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC stated in its COVID-19 infections update.

According to the data released by the the health officials via its verified Facebook page, the new COVID-19 cases were reported across 2 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Lagos reported the highest number of COVID-19 infections with 94, Ekiti and FCT recorded 3 and 1 cases respectively, the health officials COVID-19 dashboard shows late Saturday.

Today's report includes 0 cases reported from Rivers, Oyo, Sokoto, Kano and Kaduna States, NCDC stated.
