    COVID-19: Nigeria Records 3 Deaths, 565 New Cases

    Nigeria reported 565 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, as the West Africa country’s active case number continues to grow.

    Apart from the 565 fresh COVID-19 cases, Nigeria has also recorded 76 recoveries in the last 24 hours with a recovery rate at over 93.4 percent of the total cases.

    The newly recorded infections raised the country’s tally of COVID-19 cases to 177,142 and the number of successfully recovered patients to 165,409. Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC stated in its COVID-19 infections update.

    Nigeria’s active case count increased to 9,542 cases after its added 476 cases in a day.

    Three more Nigeria residents died after contracting coronavirus, increasing the nation's deaths toll to 2,181.

    Top five states among the 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory which have registered the maximum cases in the latest spike are Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Oyo and FCT with 348, 70, 45, 36 and 24 infections respectively

    Also, Ekiti states reported 15 cases, Kwara and Ogun had 7 cases each, Gombe with 3, Anambra and Kaduna with 2 cases each.

    Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo, Plateau, Kano and Sokoto had 1 case each.

    While Nasarawa, Ondo, and Osun reported no cases in past 24 hours.
