    COVID-19: Nigeria Registers 612 New Infections Saturday

    Nigeria health officials reported 612 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday in 7 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The 612 cases reported on Saturday indicated an increase from the 533 cases recorded on Friday.

    Today’s case count comes after officials logged 754 on Thursday and 533 new cases on Friday.

    The nation deemed 42 more cases of the virus to be resolved as of Saturday, Nigeria’s number of recovered patients stands at 207,703.

    Health officials stated that the recoveries includes 38 discharged cases reported in Bauchi state on 10th December 2021.

    Today’s report brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Nigeria to 217,063 including deaths and recoveries, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC  said.

    NCDC also said that there was no new death on Saturday leaving the mortality tally at 2,981.

    Active COVID-19 cases stands at 6,374  – up by 575.

    The new data revealed that Lagos reported most of the infections – with 483 cases. While  FCT, Rivers and Oyo reported 49, 38 and 31 cases respectively.

    Five of the cases were found in Delta state, Four in Ekiti, one case each in Bauchi and Jigawa state.

    NCDC noted that today’s report includes one confirmed case reported in Bauchi state was logged on 10th December 2021.

    Five states with zero cases reported: Plateau, Ondo, Ogun, Osun and Sokoto, NCDC said.
