    Nigeria Adds 1,547 New Postive Tests, 8 More Deaths Announced Sunday

    Health officials in Nigeria on Sunday said that the nation has registered 1,547 additional cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its COVID-19 recovery has increased by 193.

    The recoveries includes 32 discharged cases reported in FCT on 25th (20) & 26th (12) December.

    Nigeria’s active COVID-19 cases stand at 21,989 _ - up from 20,643 it was the previous day.

    The new cases which was announced by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC via its official Facebook page were recorded in 9 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Data obtained from the NCDC’s Facebook page shows that within a 24 hour period, FCT, Lagos and Borno reported 806, 401 and 166 cases respectively.

    Others states with new infections reported on Sunday are Oyo-78, Ogun-47, Osun-30, Ekiti-7, Katsina-7, Kano-4 and Jigawa-1.

    NCDC added that zero cases were reported from Bauchi, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers and Sokoto States on Sunday.

    Meanwhile, NCDC data showed that 8 additional deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours. Which includes 3 deaths reported in FCT on 25th (2) & 26th (1) of December

    Sunday’s data brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 237,561, that number includes 212,550 resolved cases and 3,022 deaths linked to the virus.

    However, NCDC stated that Sunday’s report includes 806 confirmed cases reported in FCT on  24th (additional 128 cases), 25th (302) & 26th (376) December 2021.

    Also, 166 confirmed cases on 24th December and backlogs of 159 cases reported from Borno state.
