Dr. Ismaila Badmus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has emerged as the new Deputy Rector (Academics) of the Yaba College of Technology.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by Mr Joe
Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar of YABATECH, who is also the institution’s Head of
Public Relations.
Ejiofor said that Badmus polled 75 votes to beat Dr. Pauline
Ehirheme of the Department of Office Technology and Management, who secured 13
votes during an emergency meeting of the college’s academic board.
According to Ejiofor, the election became necessary as the
tenure of Dr Titilayo Ukabam as YABATECH’s Deputy Rector ended in September
2022.
He said that the position had been vacant since then.
“As part of efforts to ensure proper and smooth
administration of the college, a free and fair election has been held, and
Badmus has emerged the new Deputy Rector (Academics),” he said.
The spokesman said that Badmus, a native of Ibadan, joined
the service of YABATECH in 1997 as Lecturer 2 and rose to the position of Chief
Lecturer in 2013.
The spokesman said that Badmus also headed YABATECH’s
Department of Mechanical Engineering.
According to Ejiofor, Badmus holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical
Engineering, M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD, also in Mechanical
Engineering.
Ejiofor said that the new deputy rector, registered with the
Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, has published a number of
scholarly papers in both local and international journals. NAN
