Reigning women’s African Player of The Year, Asisat Oshoala, says she will continue to be a source of inspiration to young female footballers in the country after returning home with her sixth CAF women’s Player of The Year award.
Following a remarkable year for club and country, Oshoala
won a record-extending sixth crown earlier this month in Morocco.
It was a blend of Christmas celebration and football as the
event also featured the final of the eighth Football4Girls tournament, which is
organised annually by the footballer to support emerging female talents in the
country.
“When I look back at how I started, I know I had friends who
were even better than me but there were limited opportunities so I want to
create more opportunities for the younger generation so they can achieve their
dreams as well,” Oshoala said.
Executive Director of Emzor, Uzoma Ezeoke, lauded the
Barcelona Feminine forward for her consistency.
“She’s inspirational, she connects with what we do, she
lives a healthy lifestyle and inspires young girls and we connect on that
level. The motivation is to keep going, it doesn’t stop, it only gets better,”
Ezeoke said.
“We believe Asisat is a wellness brand and a growing one. We
are in our seventh going on to eighth year of partnership, and shes been
consistent. She’s the kind of young lady you’d want to work with and we keep
doing it year after year.”
Oshoala was presented with a symbolic jersey No.6 as well as
a plaque by Emzor in celebration of her feat.
