Ijadunola said that the initiative would address the
challenges of nation-building.
The VC, who spoke during a courtesy visit to Ondo State
Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, said
that the university’s founder, Michael Ade Ojo, had made significant
investments due to his deliberate commitment to the development of the state.
He also said that the university had employed over 500
indigenous people of the state alongside others around the world that have been
contributing substantially to the socio-economic growth of the state, as well
as human capital, which is pivotal to sustainable growth and development.
Ijadunola said that though Elizade University is a private
investment, it remains a worthwhile property in the state that will outlive the
founder, saying that the institution will continue to prosper the state in a
regenerative manner that will impact posterity and the entire human race.
He, therefore, urged the state government to extend its
assistance of solar power to the university, which of course is the academic
home of many students of the institution who are also of state origin.
The vice chancellor said he was in the office of the
governor to inform him of his assumption of office as the fourth vice
chancellor of Elizade University and to identify with the mood of the state
over the demise of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, while he prayed for
strength and wisdom for the new governor.
On his part, Aiyedatiwa appreciated the new VC of Elizade
University, whom he described as very agile and responsive, commending him for
being thoughtful as well as for his empathy towards the state government.
He said the death of the former governor was a big loss
because of the great contributions he had made in all spheres of human
endeavour.
According to him, the burial of Akeredolu will not be a
gloomy affair but the celebration of the life of a patriot who was true to life
and mankind.
