The Chairman of SIFAX Group and the recently appointed Chancellor of Gerar University of Medical Sciences in Imope-Ijebu, Ogun State, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi has commended the institution for the impressive quality of infrastructure on its campus during his maiden visit.
Expressing his delight, Dr. Afolabi praised the university
for having remarkable infrastructure and advanced equipment that would
facilitate a seamless commencement of academic activities at the permanent
site. The university is set to welcome its pioneer students in the coming
weeks.
“I have always believed that quality education remains the
bedrock of development in any society. It not only liberates the mind but also
positions individuals for personal advancement. This is the major reason
education has been a key pillar in SIFAX Group’s social interventions over the
years. This is why I accepted to be the Chancellor of this university. I want
to contribute my quota towards the realization of the lofty vision of this
citadel of learning,” stated Afolabi.
“I have gone round the campus. This is impressive because
not many universities start their journey on their permanent sites. The
infrastructural provision, facilities and modern equipment on ground are more
than good enough for a university just opening her doors. I wish to commend the
founder and management of the university for the good job done so far.”
During his visit, Afolabi was warmly received by the
university’s management team, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Niran Adetoro.
The Vice-Chancellor informed Afolabi that the National
Universities Commission (NUC) had approved all nine take-off programs of the
university, including Nursing Science, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science,
Physiology, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Radiation Science, Anatomy, Human
Nutrition and Dietetics, and Pharmacology.
In keeping with his commitment to supporting the university,
Dr. Taiwo Afolabi fulfilled his promise by donating a brand-new bus. The bus,
presented by Olumuyiwa Akande, Group Head of Corporate Communications at SIFAX
Group, is intended to aid the movement of staff as academic activities are set
to commence in the next few weeks.
Prof. Niran Adetoro, receiving the bus, expressed gratitude
for the generous donation, assuring that it would be effectively utilized to
enhance the university’s operational efficiency.
