In its compact state, the Mate XT functions as a 6.4-inch OLED smartphone, but when fully expanded, it showcases an impressive 10.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2232 x 3184 and a 16:11 aspect ratio, surpassing all existing foldables, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Honor Magic V3. Additionally, it offers a 7.9-inch display when partially unfolded, enhancing its versatility for multitasking and media consumption.
The display, manufactured by BOE, a leader in OLED technology, is safeguarded by ultra-thin glass, which boosts durability while maintaining a sleek design. Despite its intricate trifold mechanism, the device remains slim at 12.8mm when folded. The Mate XT is powered by a 5600mAh battery that supports 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging, ensuring that the expansive display does not hinder battery performance.
Although Huawei has not officially disclosed the chipset details, the Mate XT is anticipated to feature the Kirin 9010 5G processor, which is expected to provide robust performance and advanced AI capabilities. Furthermore, the device includes satellite communication features, enhancing connectivity in remote locations—a capability that Huawei has been integrating into its latest flagship models.
The camera system of this device is remarkable, boasting a 50MP primary camera with a variable aperture, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 12MP 5.5x periscope telephoto lens, and an 8MP front-facing camera. It is equipped with high-end features such as Bluetooth 5.2, an IR blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and operates on Huawei’s Harmony OS.
The Mate XT is available in various configurations, starting at 19,999 yuan (approximately $2,809) for the model with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and reaching up to 23,999 yuan (around $3,371) for the 1TB storage option. Each purchase includes a set of accessories, including a kickstand case, FreeBuds 5 earbuds, a 66W charger, and an 88W car charger. Additionally, Huawei provides an optional foldable split keyboard, enhancing the Mate XT’s functionality as a productivity device.
Currently, the Mate XT is exclusively available in China and has already attracted considerable attention, with millions of pre-orders. Although a global launch has yet to be announced, Huawei’s cutting-edge design has the potential to make the Mate XT a worldwide success, establishing a new standard for foldable smartphones.
