A fresh dispute has surfaced in the entertainment scene after rapper Okafor Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, publicly accused music star D’banj of failing to fulfil a negotiated N20 million ambassadorial deal with the CREAM platform — D’banj’s digital talent-support and content-distribution initiative.
In a video shared on Instagram, Mr Real reacted to a recent interview granted by D’banj, saying the singer’s comments prompted him to clarify what he described as misleading narratives. According to the rapper, negotiations for his appointment as an ambassador were well underway, and he had even agreed to a discount. However, he claimed the deal collapsed because the platform could not meet the agreed financial terms.
Mr Real tied his criticism to a statement he said he heard from D’banj, alleging that the entertainer claimed his company was worth $3 billion. The rapper dismissed the figure, calling it “packaging” and urging industry figures to be more transparent.
“I heard one brother said his company is worth $3 billion. All these egbon are doing packaging. Do not use packaging to kill us,” he said. “The company that cannot afford to pay its ambassador N20 million. He was begging for a discount, and we still gave him one. But he still could not pay. This is not 2018, 2019 or 2020. This is 2025. All those packaging will not fool us again.”
He added a jab at the platform’s name: “It depends on the cream, though. Maybe it’s ice cream or body cream. What exactly is the company doing? Bro, do you even know what three billion is?”
While Mr Real’s remarks have quickly sparked conversation online, a review of D’banj’s interview indicates that the $3 billion figure was presented within a different context, raising questions about whether the rapper’s interpretation aligned with the original statement.
Industry observers are now awaiting any formal clarification from D’banj or the CREAM platform as the exchange continues to draw public attention.
