PayPal has announced its re-launch in the United Kingdom for customers to shop both online and in stores, nearly two years after the company restructured its operations there following Brexit.

This new rollout marks a significant expansion of PayPal's offerings for UK consumers, transforming it from a primary online checkout option into a more comprehensive, everyday payment platform.

Key highlights of the re-launch include:

  • New Financial Products: For the first time, UK customers will have access to PayPal Debit Cards and Credit Cards. The debit card can be used worldwide and notably features no PayPal transaction fees.
  • Wider Acceptance: The introduction of physical cards, which can be added to mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, enables customers to use their PayPal funds for in-store payments wherever Mastercard is accepted.
  • PayPal+ Loyalty Programme: The company is introducing its new PayPal+ loyalty program to nearly 30 million UK customers. This free scheme allows users to earn redeemable points on eligible purchases made both online and in-store. Customers using the new PayPal Debit Card can earn an accelerated 10 points for every £10 spent.

The move comes as PayPal works to unify the consumer payment experience and increase the value proposition for its users in the competitive UK market.
